The Ford Model A, introduced in 1927, and produced until 1931, marked a new era in Ford's history, emerging during the Roaring Twenties, and continuing into the Great Depression. It represented modern styling and advanced technology compared with its predecessor, the Model T. The Model A was so popular that it attracted a range of famous—and infamous—drivers, including Al Capone, a Chicago gangster who had a bulletproof version of the Model A. By 1930, Ford had sold over 4 million of these vehicles.
