The Cape Buffalo, also known as the African Water Buffalo, is Africa's largest herbivorous bovine. While they might be viewed as large grazing cows, it would be unwise. Prized by hunters as part of "Africa’s Big Five" for their challenging and aggressive nature, these majestic beasts are renowned for their retaliatory tactics. They have killed many hunters, and are known to use their legendary memories to ambush those foolish enough to provoke, injure or kill them. Both males and females boast impressive horns, with males reaching up to 4 feet across. Their tough skin, around 2 inches thick, acts as a shield against predators. Though not currently endangered, they face threats from invasive species like goats and cattle, and habitat loss due to human expansion. Despite these challenges, they remain resilient in the African wilderness, upholding their status as one of Africa's most iconic, formidable species.
